Your safety and security on yougo is the most important thing to us
It’s at the top of our list. We do everything we can to ensure you can use the website with complete peace of mind. However you control the information that is seen on yougo. You also control the people that can see it. You can do this using the ‘edit profile’ button on your profile page.
Your profile settings
Want only your friends to see your profile page on yougo? Go to ‘Edit profile’, which you can find underneath the picture on your profile page, and click ‘Privacy Settings’ and set your ‘Visibility’ to friends only.
You can also enable your private messaging here. You can select whether you would prefer no private messaging at all, between your friends only or between all users of yougo. This is set to ‘all users’ by default when you join yougo for the first time.
Personal information
We would strongly advise that you avoid putting phone numbers, addresses, e-mail addresses or links to your other social networks pages in public areas for your own safety.
yougo is for teenagers, but that doesn’t mean you’re immune from online nasties
Personal attacks, harassment and threats can be common place on some sites but we don’t want any of that on yougo.
It might seem overbearing but we insist you don’t give out your email address, telephone number or halls of residence information in any of the community areas on the website.
If you’re going to share the details of your other social networking profiles, remember that they are likely to contain a lot of your personal information so we would advise that you avoided doing so.
If you want to swap contact details with another user, do so via the private message facility on your profile page. If you decide to meet up with someone, use your common sense. Tell a friend where you’re going and meet in a well lit, public place.
Some people are very impressionable so be careful before you post a picture of you and your mates up to no good.
We’ll remove anything that looks reckless.
yougo wants you to stay safe and wherever possible, sensible. Demonstrate a mature attitude to smoking, drinking, sex and drugs.
If anyone is posting obscene or upsetting posts/images, get in touch with the support@yougofurther.co.uk immediately.
Let us know if someone’s sharing inappropriate links.
If you think that someone’s threatening the kind of violence likely to cause harm or disruption get in touch immediately. We’ll take the necessary action.
If any user is giving you cause for concern for any reason there are several ways you can report their behaviour:
If you’re getting grief via your profile page, let us know by emailing us at support@yougofurther.co.uk.
If you think someone in a forum is out of order, use the ‘report this post’ button to the right of the offending article.
Don’t get involved in a fiery situation - put us in the picture and we’ll handle it. If we think its necessary we will contact the police, so think before you post.
Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP)
CEOP, the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre is dedicated to eradicating the sexual abuse of children. That means we are part of UK policing and very much about tracking and bringing offenders to account either directly or in partnership with local and international forces.
The Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre is part of UK law enforcement and as such can apply the full range of policing powers in tackling the sexual abuse of children. But the organisation is very different in its set up not least because of the high volume of specialists who work alongside police officers but also because of the faculty approach that underpins our structure.
